Well, i definitely don't want to pay twice, so that sounds like a good reason to me, considering i'm not really missing anything (of course, they didn't charge me twice last time for the pre-order kit and Factions, even though that was 2 separate 2-day ships..somethin's up). Guess i'll just have to buy that extra slot for this weekend. I needed one more anyway.

i forgot about having to have an empty slot for this weekend....
I have 8 characters and 0 empty slots so now ill have to buy one that gives me 9 + the two from nightfall soon to make it 11 + the two prerelease packs i will by then = 13 LOL too many i only need 11 (one for every profession and an extra for random weekend events like this upcoming one) anyone want to buy a slot from me......
My sidescrolling character selection screen is going to look like one of the racing games where you turn the wheel to choose the letters for your name that seem to go forever LOL

You can always make a new account, just for the Preview, and not buy the extra slot.

Hold off on that second pre-release: only one bonus slot per account!

Here is what you do.
Go to your order page and email them with your order number. Cancel your order and re-make it without the starter kit.
Now, 1 week before release, go to ANY store that sells the pre-order and pick it up for 0.01$. (They've done this with every GW game in the past just to get rid of them.) You now have the slot and the bonus items but didn't spend an extra 7$.

You can only add one prerelease key to your account; no idea why anyone would buy two for one account....

Or if you made an extra account for the Factions Weekend (like I did) you can use that.

No, the Nightfall PvE Preview is open to everyone. There will be a way for players to open new accounts for free.

Assuming you can find the pre-order 1 week before the release...

Geez, those are still open? I still don't understand why Anet just won't give us temporary slots for these preview events...

My friends in Canada got their pre-release packs from EB on the bonus pack release date. I guess it's a different situation in Canada than in America. Different distributor(s) maybe?

Heres the thing from EB games:
I Ordered CE Form them, And even before I did, it CLEARLY said that they will ONLY Ship the games on the 26th of October, Which sucks for me because I will probably only Get it by the first days of Novmeber (living in Canada)
If you live in the states You will get your game by the end of the Pre order Weekend (Assuming there is one) (Why else would it be called Pre order, with an installable client?)
I have no complaints.
But I don't beleive that there only international Sipping will only take 5-7 dayes... "international Economy" Does not sound very.... efficient.

This whole starter thing has been handled badly on both the EBGames/Gamestop and Areanet fronts. The GuildWars website clearly states that on Sept 15 the starter kit hits the shelves...which means we should get our starter kits BEFORE the october 26 game release date.
see http://www.guildwars.com/support/whe...prerelease.php
Now the game distributors decide we cannot have the starter kits till october? Someone needs to get their acts together. And while they are at it...better make sure they h ave enough CE for those who ordered it..Chp1 and Chp 2 CE both were delayed due to "production" problems so I wont be surprised if Chp 3 CE gets delayed too.
Im going right now to cancel my game with starter kit. No point in having it if we cannot get it when it was advertised. I dont really care for the weapons as I am yet to use any of the preorder weapons from Chp 1 or 2. As for character slot...if i need one I will just order one from the GW Store and have it faster than waiting for this preorder.
I will reorder the regular game and spend the $5 on a character slot when i need one

having already bought 2 slots i can confirm that they are 10 dollars each and not 5 dollars.
that is why this is such a good bargain.
and as Anet has said many times when it is out of their hands they have no control over how the dealer chooses to handle it.
so dont blame Anet as plenty of other people from other dealers have gotten theirs already which shows the product is out there

Although I don't think I would go as far as saying anything unethical is going on, I DO agree with Ruby that this whole "pre-release" idea is silly.
IMO Pre-orders have back been firing because either the retailer was "selling them" instead of giving them out as an incentive to early order, or they got tired of having unclaimed merchandise that they couldn't get rid of after the game went into release. Not one retailer in my area carried the Factions pre-order unless you pre-ordered it!
Nothing in this pre-release that is game related can be accessed early, so to have it early is silly as well. Maybe it was accounting on Anet's part to determine how many retail copies they should figure on or maybe it was meant to give retailers a clue as to how many of the games to order in advance, but the fact that this is a retail product and not a pre-order in the same way as the two previous chapters certainly has been very confusing. Just a lot of marketing hype I guess to generate enthusiasm for the product. I can't say they weren't sucessful on that count.
I also agree with Ruby that Gamestop should have made it clear in their ad that the two games where being shipped together. I guess they figured that by saying bundled together, we would understand that.
edited to clarify that Chapter 3's starter kit is a pre-RELEASE not a pre-order.

I'll agree with this: it's bad for some companies to charge money, and others not to for the same product.
It's even worse if the same company does it, but for different consumers (on-line vs in-store). Now, I haven't actually gotten my pre-release, so I can't confirm it's free, but as soon as somebody does...

Problem with shipping date
i recive this email today:
Dear Eduardo Castillo,
This email is to inform you that one or more products listed below from your order ******** has been delayed from shipping. At this time, we do not have a ship date, but your backordered product(s) should be available again within the next 30 days.
If you wish to cancel any GameStop product you may do so by sending us an email at [email protected] or giving us a call at 1-800-883-8895. If you send an email, please include your order number.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay.
We value your business and hope to see you again soon.
what does this mean that i will not recive my game on the release date, i purchase the colectors edition with the starter pack. i really want to know if this specific game will be delayed cuz if that is the case i will cancel my order and place the normal edition i really would not like the fact that i recive the game 1 month after the release date it will be pointless.
can someone in anet staff verify if all preorder games will be ship on time and not a month later cuz we are paying for preorder and not delayed order.
will there be any special code were we would have the chance to play while we wait for our collectors edition to arrive.
PLZ confirm this fact ( give some solutions )

When I talked to EB they had ZERO clue what I was talking about.
Also when I pre-ordered my CE version of Nightfall... there was no mention about the pre-release kit (including there website). It seems to be only bundled with the normal version for $5 more.
Anet... if your listening.. EB/GS is giving you a slight bruse on how they are handling things.
To be honest, I'm going to eat the 9.99 BB will be charging.
(EDIT) They CHANGED the pre-order to add the pre-release kit for $5.00.... Does anyone know of another retailer I can get the CE + Pre-Release that's NOT EB/GS...
